Biomimicry Launchpad Program
I manage the Biomimicry Launchpad, a program designed to help innovators bring their nature-inspired ideas into reality.
We invite some of the most promising scientists, engineers, designers, and entrepreneurs to participate in our free 10-week program. The curriculum includes training, connections, and resources for these innovators who otherwise may not have considered commercializing their work. The unique combination of business and biomimicry training, along with in-person expeditions in extraordinary natural locations, has proven to inspire, educate, and build a vibrant community amongst these multidisciplinary participants.
Inspiration
The program includes an in-person retreat in Montana, where we slow down and take the time to observe nature and get to know each other. These spectacular landscapes and a “relationship before task” mentality provide inspiration as these innovators move forward.
Communication
The program is infused with strategies for effective communication. From sketching in nature journals to peer reviewed articles, we bring artistic and technical know-how to a rich array of training and workshops. Storytelling is a core component of the program with an attention to narrative arc and audience-specific delivery.
Collaboration
Biomimicry is, by necessity, multidisciplinary. It requires a diverse range of perspectives and skills. We include participants from every stage of development and every region of the globe. We include engineers, scientists, designers, architects, and artists. Together, we are able to work together and collaborate on some of the most pressing challenges facing humanity.
